The garden party at Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam is one of those events that reminds you why Amsterdam does summer well. An inner courtyard, oysters, Aix Rosé, good company and very little else needed. Some invitations are easier to accept than others.
The courtyard is one of those Amsterdam spaces that feels genuinely removed from the city outside. Enclosed on all sides, hung with sculptural lanterns, it makes for a good setting for a party without needing much else added to it. Oysters were shucked throughout the afternoon and served alongside Aix Rosé. Simple, well-chosen, and it worked.
BNR Nieuwsradio broadcast live from the garden, which added an interesting layer to what was otherwise a relaxed afternoon. The crowd was a diverse and interesting one, drawn from different corners of Amsterdam’s professional and creative world. The kind of gathering where the mix of people is part of the appeal. Amsterdam in June, when it delivers, is hard to beat.
